The 2026 HCS Gravity Games
The dumbest thing we’ve done yet?
See: The Horizon Club Scene Gravity Games Cup
There comes a point where you’ve built too many 1,000 horsepower monsters. Too many perfectly tuned time attack cars. Too many rally weapons.
… too many hill climb BEASTS.
Eventually, you start asking the important questions:
What if we… did it in reverse?
Welcome to the HCS Gravity Games.
Gravity Games is a celebration of questionable engineering, unnecessary commitment, and seeing just how far you can push a vehicle that absolutely should not be competitive.
We’ll be racing gravity-powered “soapbox” cars down the mountain. Well… mostly gravity-powered.
Technically, the engines still run.
Technically.
Build Your Soapbox
Everyone is welcome to build their own entry to attack the downhill with in the open class. The goal is to build the funniest thing that somehow still manages to be quick.
Basic Regulations
Transmission
- Race Transmission
- Final Drive: Full Acceleration
- Every Gear: Full Acceleration
This maxes your top speed between like 5mph and 15mph. Your engine should be screaming while contributing almost nothing.
Wheels
Cragar Smoothies.
Paint them bright red.
Make them slightly larger than stock – not donk-sized, just enough to add a little unsprung weight while keeping some sidewall.
Because… science.
Tires
Street tires. Mostly because we’re all using them. More grip is just going to slow you down.
Suspension
Rally Suspension.
Lower the front or raise the rear if you want a little more stability through the corners.
Experiment.
It’s a soapbox.
Brakes
Race Brakes
- 25% Brake Pressure
- 100% Rear Bias
They feel surprisingly natural once you’re used to them.
Weight
This is where things get interesting.
Unlike most racing…
More weight can actually make you faster.
Engine swaps.
Heavy induction.
Anything that makes your glorified shopping cart roll downhill with a little more authority.
Think outside the soapbox. If it’s too loose in the turns, consider taking some weight out.
Style Matters
Half the fun is watching these ridiculous machines make their way down the hill.
Give your car a name.
Make a goofy livery.
Pretend you’re entering the Red Bull Soapbox Race.
The crowd deserves something memorable to cheer for.
Don’t Want to Build One?
No problem.
We’ll have a few HCS house cars available for anyone who just wants to show up and race.
Current fleet includes:
- Deputy Driftwood ~ Crown Victoria
- Wheelin’ Wilhelm ~ BMW Isetta
- Spoiler Alert ~ Zenvo
- Prom Night ~ Cadillac Limousine
They’re all equally terrible… just in different ways, and today we’re launching the Gravity Games Cup with those 4 cars to give you even more useless things to spend your time on!
See you at the top of the hill.
