Sometimes you need to put flashing lights on a supercar and spend Wednesday night pretending your friends have committed crimes.

Fortunately, Forza Horizon 6 has options.

Light bars remain one of those slightly hidden customization features in Horizon: they’re only available on certain vehicles, and depending on the car you’ll generally find them buried under Aero & Appearance options such as side skirts, roof, or bumpers rather than in some obvious “Emergency Equipment” menu. Community documentation has already confirmed blue, amber, red/blue and even additional strobe configurations on a number of FH6 cars. (Reddit)

And the selection is wonderfully unhinged.

Here are the cars we’ve found.

1959 Jaguar Mk II

We begin with perhaps the most historically appropriate car on the entire list.

The Mk II became closely associated with British policing during the 1960s. Its combination of four doors, excellent performance for the period and that wonderful 3.8-liter straight-six made the big Jaguar useful for motorway and traffic work and considerably more capable of chasing down the increasingly quick cars appearing on British roads.

So while sticking emergency equipment on an old Jaguar might initially look like Horizon nonsense, this one has real roots.

It’s also an exceptionally good excuse to build a period police car rather than another modern pursuit vehicle.

1996 Chevrolet Impala SS

If you’re going to build an American cop car, you might as well start with a giant body-on-frame sedan.

The '94–'96 Impala SS was the civilian hot-rod relative of Chevrolet’s B-body Caprice, a platform extensively used by American law enforcement. The Impala itself wasn’t the standard police package, the Caprice 9C1 was, but the relationship is close enough that the resulting police build looks completely natural.

Build it black. Find some steelies. Go ruin somebody’s evening.

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR

Of course you can put a light bar on an Evo.

The normal Evo X GSR offers emergency-light equipment, and FH6 community testing has confirmed blue and amber light-bar options. (Reddit)

This is where the list starts becoming especially fun for a Japanese Horizon game. It’s compact, AWD, violently effective on a mountain road and looks completely convincing wearing emergency equipment.

It’s basically begging for a fictional Japanese prefectural police livery.

2010 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

The obvious one.

The Crown Vic isn’t merely a civilian car with an emergency-light option. Police Interceptor is literally the model.

And FH6 treats it accordingly.

You can outfit it with the red/blue police light bar, push bar and the wonderful dual A-pillar spotlights. (Reddit)

For decades, the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was one of the defining images of North American policing. They’re largely gone from active frontline service now, which somehow makes driving one in Horizon even better.

If you’re organizing a police cruise, somebody needs to bring the Vic.

Preferably with suspension that has absolutely no business being underneath a Crown Victoria.

2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

And now we’ve reached the supercar police department.

The SLS isn’t completely fantasy, either.

A police-liveried SLS AMG famously became part of the Dubai Police supercar fleet, complete with working emergency lighting. Contemporary footage documents the car operating with its police lights, and it became part of a fleet intended as much for public visibility and engagement as traditional patrol work. (YouTube)

So yes.

Police SLS is canon in the real world.

2012 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

A Cayenne wearing emergency equipment makes considerably more practical sense than most of this article.

Fast SUV. AWD. Lots of cargo space. Excellent bad-weather capability.

It doesn’t require much imagination.

And unlike some of the cars here, the result can look less like a supercar publicity stunt and more like something an actual specialist police unit might use.

2014 Alfa Romeo 4C

And practicality has left the building again!

Tiny Italian mid-engined sports car. Two seats. Almost nowhere to put anything.

Police lights.

This is precisely the kind of vehicle that makes Horizon’s emergency-equipment list fun. Nobody is choosing an Alfa 4C because they’re concerned about prisoner transport capacity.

2014 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U5023

The opposite end of the spectrum.

If the 4C is the car you send to chase somebody, the Unimog is what you send when they’ve escaped into a forest, crossed three rivers and caused a minor geological event.

FH6 provides both blue and amber light-bar configurations for the U5023. (Reddit)

It makes an excellent heavy rescue, emergency response, fire-support or absurdly oversized police vehicle.

It also means there’s technically nothing stopping you from bringing a Unimog to Cop Night.

We aren’t sure whether that’s a warning or a recommendation.

2014 Volkswagen Golf R

This might be one of the most believable European traffic-police builds in the game.

Fast without being exotic, AWD, compact, practical and completely capable of disappearing into normal traffic until the lights come on.

Give it a restrained European police livery and it looks almost factory.

2015 Audi RS 6 Avant

Speaking of terrifyingly capable European wagons…

And conceptually, it’s magnificent.

A huge AWD performance wagon with supercar acceleration and enough room in the back for cones, equipment, luggage and the shattered dignity of whoever thought they were getting away.

This might be the ultimate sleeper pursuit build on the list.

2016 BMW M4 GTS

There’s also an interesting real-world German connection worth explaining here.

Germany has a long-running road-safety initiative called TUNE IT! SAFE!, backed by the German tuning industry association VDAT. Since 2005, the campaign has produced modified demonstration cars wearing official-looking police liveries to promote legal, safe tuning rather than illegal modifications. (VDAT)

They aren’t ordinary patrol cars.

They’re essentially police-themed tuner show cars promoting responsible modification.

Which is an extremely German solution to this problem.

2016 Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV

Obviously.

At some point somebody was going to look at an Aventador and ask:

What if police car?

Supercars in police liveries have plenty of real-world precedent… particularly as publicity, tourism, community-engagement or demonstration vehicles rather than everyday pursuit cars.

And an Aventador SV with emergency lighting certainly accomplishes the important policing objective of making absolutely everyone look at it.

2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

The American answer to the European super-cop builds.

It’s also one of the easiest cars here to make look genuinely menacing.

Dark paint. Minimal graphics. Steel-looking wheels. Tiny department markings.

Lights. Done.

2020 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series

This one gets particularly ridiculous.

The AMG GT Black Series doesn’t merely get a roof light.

FH6 community testing has found blue and amber light-bar options, two white front grille strobes and two white rear strobes. Both the standard and Welcome Pack versions have been reported with the equipment. (Reddit)

On a car built around enormous aero, a twin-turbo V8 and track performance.

Wonderful.

The Nürburgring has declared martial law.

2021 BMW M3 Competition (G80)

Another modern BMW that takes extremely well to the look.

And like the M4, there’s enough genuine history involving high-performance BMWs, German tuning houses and police-themed safety demonstration cars that the concept doesn’t look remotely out of place.

For a modern Autobahn-style traffic unit, this is probably one of the cleanest builds available.

Keep the livery simple.

The grille already provides enough visual information for the entire car.

2021 Ford Bronco

Finally, something for when the suspect decides roads are optional.

The Bronco is an interesting alternative to all the pursuit machinery above because it opens up a completely different kind of build.

Ranger.

Search and rescue.

Park police.

Mountain patrol.

Emergency services.

Or just an aggressively over-equipped police Bronco chasing somebody across Japan because Wangan Wednesday stopped making sense approximately three hours ago.

All are acceptable.

So… which one?

That’s 16 cars ranging from a 1959 Jaguar to an AMG GT Black Series, plus a Unimog because apparently nobody at Playground was willing to tell us no.

And that’s exactly why the light-bar cars are such a great little corner of Horizon customization.

Some have genuine police history.

Some resemble real demonstration or promotional police vehicles.

Some are plausible emergency vehicles, and some exist because putting a light bar on a Lamborghini is objectively funny.

For our purposes, that’s more than enough.
